Its been past three days and the buyer hasnt rated me Is unacceptable there is no way for me to communicate with the people that can help me the man has my book that I sold him you have my money please let me get paid for my sale the buyer is ignoring all of my girl requests somebody needs to do something

User's recommendation: Make it easier for people to get paid for their items.

Monetary Loss: $9.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

I had a negative experience as a (new) buyer on Mercari. But to be fair, I don't believe that Mercari's rating deadlines are made as apparent as they could be.

Buyers are used to eBay timelines (at least I am).

There was a long delay with receiving the item I bought and therefore I didn't rate the transaction (primarily bc the item didn't work and I wanted to request a return) but their delay made me think delaying my rating was OK. This may be against their guidelines but maybe reaching out to the buyer and simply asking him/her to rate the transaction would be beneficial.
