Mercari.. beware shopper!

Mercari sided with the seller when I was clearly in the right when they read all the messages between me and the seller. Mercari has done this before, and sellers too; I'll never shop with them again!

eBay always stands by their customers, and Poshmark can be somewhat like Mercari as well, but not as bad. But I don't have money to just throw away because someone decided to rip me off, and I'm sure most people would agree.

After an infuriating back-and-forth with a second customer service representative completely void of common sense and courtesy, which culminated in her ceasing to respond to my messages, a third gentleman chimed in. He apologized and said he understood my frustration and the hole isn't visible in any of the pictures, and informed me that my account had been credited.

So, I mean... yeah, that's cool and all. That also should've been the initial response. Before I contacted my bank who was going to investigate, and already reimbursed me.

That might be my best advice, actually. Especially if you don't have the fighting spirit that I do… use a card with a bank that will rectify things if they wont.

I tried calling the two numbers that I've seen… the 7482 number said that my call could not be completed at this time and the 2168 number does not have live support in my area, which I tried for a number of the menu options just to be sure it wasn't exclusively returns with that issue.

The seller uploaded six photos that were strategically positioned to conceal the fact that there was *** in the heel, nor did she mention it in the description.
So I reported having an issue and uploaded photos to show that there was *** or a bite, or ::something::, missing from the heel of the sneaker. I was told that my photos of the item aligned with the seller who had fulfilled her obligation by sending the item, and suggested if I was dissatisfied that I should sell the item... I kept trying to point out that the item was not as described because there was no mention of *** or image where *** is visible, and I still haven't gotten anywhere She kept saying that the item could not be returned unless it was not as described and for some reason that wasn't enough of a discrepancy.

According to this individual, it's the responsibility of the buyer to think of the worst case scenario and reach out to the seller and rule out the possibility of anything being wrong with the item...

Mecari harbors fraud and refuses to give me my own money back

I purchased this listing and the item was lost within a day of the item being shipped. I went back and looked at the pictures of the item and noticed all the coats in the pictures are slightly different.

Some of lapels are larger in some pictures vs. Others. Some of the pictures show 3 buttons on the sleeve vs 4 buttons. I was horrified as the coat in all the pictures are different.

I went back to track my item again and noticed the seller made an insurance claim on the lost package. So now the seller has money for a fake item. I look at the sellers reviews and he had canceled 65 transactions out of 129. With all of those cancelations resulting in insurance claims.

I called mecari with this information and they refused to refund my money for 30 days.

Even though the listing shows 4 different coats in the sellers listing, The seller has canceled almost half of their transactions, and the seller has already filed an insurance claim. Mecari USA is doing so poorly financial and so desperate to make money they are now harboring consumer fraudsters

This website is horrible. Zero customer service.

Scammers can keep repeating the same scam over and over, not even changing profiles or the items listed, and Mercari does absolutely nothing to stop these crooks. You have 72 hours to check your package and report a problem, and after that, you're screwed. It's a garbage site with no support that allows lowlifes to steal your money with no recourse. If you buy or sell on this site, you deserve to get ripped off.

I would show my purchase as a scam, which I was refunded for, but Mercari scrubs the entire transaction off your purchase history! It's a shady website that knows about the scammers and tries to help cover up any wrongdoing!

Tried to cancel and refund, seller ship label has eight extra numbers. USPS has no history.

They keep giving me the runaround not one response. Should already have been refunded. Cannot get through on phone, awful system and awful seller.

I had an account with Mercari and sales were great! Then, suddenly, one day my account was limited.

They said it was for 'prohibited conduct,' but didn't tell me what the prohibited conduct was and I didn't have any idea. I wasn't selling anything dangerous; my prices were more than fair, and I wasn't breaking any other rules. Anyhow, with a limited account, I cannot request payout. Mercari owes me $1,441.09.

I have mailed them two letters asking them to pay me and have written to them in the app many times. All I've gotten is an email saying they've looped in their payments and billing department.

It has been two weeks already and there hasn't been any other response. I don't know what else to do; I want my money!

No contact from Mercari...over 70 emails to customer service, email to corporate office in Japan, got legal advice, and sent letter to corporate office in Palo Alto CA. Today..I am at a loss, I was a good seller and was rated highly..

Received broken merchandise. Asked for a return refund.

Have 55 messages, they denied it, said I waited too long (next day).

Filed a contest with Visa. They locked my account, I dropped the Visa issue, sent a copy, but they still won't open my account for use or give me the $400 earned.

I made a purchase for some Timberland boots, but the seller canceled for some reason. Consequently, I had to reorder.

I have loved Mercari for years. This last issue was one simple dress ordered.

It was received in a timely manner, but the post office marked it as delivered when actually, I only received a postage due sticker of $30.80. I refused the order. It was accidental shipping on the seller's end. The seller was very apologetic.

The package was shipped back to her. Mercari seems incompetent in reading very detailed messages and refunding me the $7.50 for the item, plus fees. Like, how hard is it? It's been several weeks now.

Just refund and close the case. Gracious.

I purchased a pair of Valentino Flats, Item ID# m146*****. I contacted the seller prior to purchasing and was told they were hardly worn, however when I received the shoes, the logo on the left shoe was completely detached.

I contacted their chat representatives three times and was told that if I wanted to speak to someone, I would have to pay a refundable $1.00 charge, however when I went to pay, it was charging me $47.00 the first two time and $39.00 the third time I tried. THIS IS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ABSOLUTLY RIDICULOUS!!!

Attached is a photo of the damage to the shoes.

Id like to keep the shoes, but would like a partial refund in order to pay to have them repaired.

Ive asked Mercari to respond as to my best course of action, or I will leave a negative review for the seller, and Mercaris terrible customer service practices.

YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO GET CUSTOMER SUPPORT, ESPECIALLY SINCE IM THE ONE HAVING TO PAY FOR SERVICE FEES FOR LISTING ITEMS!!!

Mercari charges buyers a payment processing fee at the time of purchase. For listings created before March 27, 2024, the Mercari website states a fee of 2.9% plus $0.50 per sale on completed transactions. For direct deposit, there is a $2 non-refundable fee per cash-out. The charge for a completed Instant Pay transfer is $3.

Users can sell their stuff on the Mercari website by taking good photographs of the product and creating a list. To do so:
1. Ensure to describe the item. You should initiate a Mercari account login and then set up the Smart Pricing available on the listing page.
2. Follow this by selecting the shipping option.
3. Contact the support team or visit the Mercari store location if you face any complexity.

To close a Mercari account, submit your permanent account closure request via the intake form on the company's website. Once your request is submitted, the company's representatives will process it within 45 days. It's best to check your registered email for confirmation, also available on the Mercari website.

Buyers can cancel their offer on the Mercari website within 24 hours of making it. This can be done by contacting the seller and initiating a Mercari login. Follow that by clicking on Order Status and then on Request Cancellation. Buyers can also click to Meet the Seller and message them for a Mercari return. Another way is to block the seller, which cancels the offer instantly.

The Mercari website is a consumer-to-consumer e-commerce platform where users can sell and purchase various products, such as election, lifestyle, and beauty.
